Teddy & The Bassman - Episode 18

May 2nd, 2016

Another exciting episode with the dynamic duo from the Lucky Ten Thousand, Evan and Carissa! This time, we tag team games. On the Lucky Ten Thousand side, we play Wise or Otherwise, a truly awesome game about quotes. Here on T&TB, we get down and dirty with Cards Against Humanity – and as Teddy says, we don’t ‘mince our punches’.

In addition, we discuss a few things that have been on our minds, like critiquemydickpic.tumblr.com, the differences between opinions on things and judgements about people, and the fandom film Severus Snape and the Marauders. Fun music, a word from our karma sponsor, and a special thank you to two of our listeners for your kind words of support and encouragement.

This episode’s special music:

Teddy & The Bassman - Episode 17

April 12th, 2016

Hello to our regular listeners, and to listeners of The Lucky Ten Thousand, who are visiting us for the first time! We welcome to the Steampunk Library the ever-awesome God of Pod Evan Harris, along with his Lucky Ten Thousand Co-host Carissa for a special two-part, crossover podcast. Here on TNTB, part one of the podcast: We all head over to the mythical Room 101, where things are sent, never to return.  Teddy, The Bassman, Carissa and Evan all get to put forward their nominations. The only problem with Room 101, though, is that once you start thinking of things to put in it, it’s like potato chips – you can’t stop!

Another special treat is our entry for The Bearded One’s Breakup Video/Audio contest. We didn’t win, but the winners, our friends Kim and Liz, richly deserved their victory. To see their award-winning farewell speech, head over to The Bearded Ones!

Then, while you’re at it, check out The Lucky Ten Thousand for Part Two of this crossover podcast, where we engage in some fantastic discussions with Evan and Carissa.

Special Music For Episode 17:

Level 42 – Demo Music

Well, now that we have survived the bloodbath that was January 2016, Teddy & The Bassman welcome Kim Morgan and Elizabeth Coulson, two of the leading lights of the Greenville Theatre Community, in this first of two episodes. Pizza, wine, and hilarity ensued as we discuss the best and worst of Valentines, The Five Languages of Love, Mental Heath Days, and the cathartic cry.

Steampunk Theatre proudly presents an excerpt from a 1960's Sex Education text for girls, and we start a contest to guess how many times Elizabeth is going to say, "Edit that out!"

You'll notice we didn't. Sorry, Liz ;)

Teddy & The Bassman - Episode 13

January 18th, 2016

Welcome to our first Podcast of 2016, and thank you for helping us hit the top 100 Movers on Stitcher! It's jam-packed with what you've come to expect from us - chat, vintage commercials, cool music and anecdotes, including a delightful cameo from the God of Pod, Evan Harris.

We recorded this podcast on January 11, but due to some scheduling conflicts we are a little late in publishing. To be honest, it has been one of the saddest weeks we've ever lived through. First, the shocking news that David Bowie passed away after his battle with cancer; and as we were reeling from this, we woke up to the heartbreaking news that Alan Rickman had passed away, also of cancer. They were both too young, and were taken before their time, and the world is a less colourful, beautiful place without them. As the Bassman said on Facebook, "The world today is dull, and it hurts."

Friends, these two men were very important to us. Teddy can hardly bear to look at her Facebook and LiveJournal feeds, because it is so painful to see all the tributes to Alan Rickman and know he is gone. He was a very important figure to her; she's been a huge fan of his since the 80's and he served as the inspiration to her protagonist Her Minder.

We tried in a small way to pay tribute to both these incredible men at the end of this podcast, and we will have more about them on our next episode, when the hurt and loss aren't so raw and painful.

In the meantime, sit back, grab your favourite beverage, and enjoy Episode 13 of Teddy & The Bassman.

Teddy & The Bassman - Episode 11

October 30th, 2015

Happy Halloween! Dust off the cobwebs, we're back!

TnTB celebrate Halloween in their own inimitable way, by glorifying pumpkin spice, trashing tropes, disparaging the man bun, and discussing a subject so NSFW we can't even mention it here.

All this, plus our usual nonsense. So have a Happy Harvest Festival, Halloween, Samhain, or whatever you and yours prefer to call it.

And nobody mentioned 50 Shades of Shite this week. Is that shaming?
